Eric Maria Couturier's Artistic Residency: A Highlight
The recent artistic residency of world-renowned cellist Eric Maria Couturier of Ensemble Intercontemporain at the Malmö Academy of Music was a truly special experience for me. As a composer, it was an honor to have had the opportunity to hear my piece "Dianthus" performed by such a talented and accomplished musician.
The residency was an opportunity for growth and learning. Couturier conducted masterclasses and workshops for the students at the academy, providing valuable insight and guidance for the next generation of musicians. For me, the performance of "Dianthus" by Couturier was an opportunity to further investigate my solo writing and I am now excited to take the inspiration and lessons learned during this residency to create a more complete and rounded work in the future.
