Adorare (2024-25), for Orchestra
Adorare: To love tenderly and with great affection. A collection of cherished moments and memories of affection, intimacy, and the autobiographical. Music from past times emerges, experienced with a sense of paleness and distance, as a memory impossible to fully recollect. The construction of the work is ever-developing, ever-collapsing, hosting a continuous flow of images that come to focus in an attempt never fulfilled. The form becomes a casket, preserving the most precious moments, diaphanous and immanent, purged from the body of actuality and held within like rare and glittering gems. The blossoming of flowers at night. A couple dancing in a newly inhabited apartment. A child spinning in the tall grass on a Sunday afternoon. An infant lulled to sleep. Somewhere, sometime, these fleeting instants all occurred.
